LESSON PLAN of ALICE 3 PROJECT- Introduction to Work Education

A. About the Teacher:
Created By: VIPIN KUMAR MAURYA, TGT Work Experience
Kendriya Vidyalaya: IIM Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

B. About the Project:
Subject: Work Education (erstwhile Work Experience)
Topic: Introduction to Work Education
Duration: 05:30 minutes
Class: 6th to 12th

C. Objective of the story:
To create such a 3-d animation on Alice 3.1 so that the students could be made aware of the facts that why and how the emphasis on Work Education is the need of the hour.

D. Background and purpose of the story:
I am of the view that the students must know the background/ history behind the inclusion of the subject, they are studying. I have personally experienced that most of the students are not aware of the origin of Work Education (erstwhile Work Experience/ SUPW). This situation is same across all the upper-primary, secondary and senior secondary classes i.e. class 6 to class 12, that I take.
I, therefore, landed upon the idea of creating an animated story to tell the students the logic behind inclusion of Work Education in the school curriculum. I also wish the students know that how the emphasis on Work Education in the whole education system can change the whole scenario and can take us in a better world.
Earlier, I had been trying to meet this requirement by preparing and showing a Power Point Presentation to the students. I am sure that a 3-D animation on Alice 3.1 would be more effective and thus, would enhance the understanding of students about the facts.

E. Main constituents of the story:
Characters:
i) Mahatma Gandhi
ii) Child undergoing education
Background:
i) Banana tree
ii) Pond
iii) Table lamp
iv) Banana Tree
v) Palm Tree

F. Description of the scenes:

a) What are the goals of Education?
b) What we see around us today
c) Is the Education System ailing? What is the remedy?

2. Mahatma Gandhi tells his plan of Basic Education

3. How 3 H’s combination in useful for personality development

4. How the Work Experience is beneficial if included in all sort of education?

5. Kothari Commission and Work Experience in Education

H. The Barriers:
The final animation is good, I suppose. But there were barriers in making it. Some of them are:
1. I could not match the looks of Gandhiji on Alice. My Gandhiji is there without his trademark glasses.
2. Since, with the textual matter, voice over is also included, it enhanced the size of .a3p file. It is now about 84MB. Running such a heavy animation was cumbersome.
3. Animating the Scene 6 (Cam_Edu) specially was quite difficult. To get the effect of a Money Bag, I had to use the Bowling Pin, but I am not satisfied with that.

I. Alice and Work Experience:
Work Experience ultimately makes the learners skilful. There is the need of the hour that students develop one or more skills in them. We know that the area of computers provide them many avenues of developing skills and animation is one of them.
Making projects on Alice has been made very simple so that the students could learn the a-b-c of animation in an easier manner. Alice is going to give the students a strong area of skills of the time. The students will certainly be able to enhance their interest as animation opens many doors of careers in later stage.
In this manner, the Work Experience could open a gateway for the students to learn animation through Alice and go ahead in the life.
