Learning Activities
Learning Outcomes
Skills Developed
1.
Students collect different shapes (2d & 3d) from their surroundings.
To differentiate plain figures from other shapes.
The concept of Height.
Observation skill,
2.
Sort out by i) 2d and 3d shapes ii) Shapes having straight line segments, corners, and having curved lines, curved surfaces
Differentiate polygons and polyhedrons from other shapes
Observation skill, Creativity.
3.
Introduction to simple 2d shapes and their names like square, rectangle etc.. and 3d shapes like cube, cuboid etc.
Learning the names of different shapes
Observation, memory.
4.
Alice Presentation for Circle and its various parts
The slow movement of the animation, modulations in voice, voice given by penguin, alien, a child makes the animation powerful for a child to grasp &  learn the  parts and the terminology  easily and quickly
Self – motivation, Creativity, Concentration.
5.
Assignment for students through Alice ( Group Activity) Explained below.
Through the activity, students become familiar with 2-d 3-d shapes, different types of 2d-3d shapes with their names, circles and its parts.
Leadership, Team management, Problem solving, Time management, communication skill, Creativity, Self- motivation, Organisation, Execution.
6.
Groups showcase their work
Thorough with the concepts
Leadership,Team work, Communication skill, Decision making, Self confidence,Team management.

Assignment:  (Prepared by the students and evaluated by teacher)
Divide the class into 4 groups. Assign 4 different sub topics of the lesson to prepare through Alice.
Topics:
Group1: Identify the parts: Different parts of circles will be shown through Alice, with their names, by the group.(Completely leave for kid's imagination)
Group 2:  Fill in the blanks:  The words like chord, semi circle etc.. (names of the parts of a circle) and cube , cuboid, square, rectangle etc…( names of 2d and 3d shapes) can be used for fill in the blanks. Using Alice software, using text and markers ( to give answers) prepare the assignment.
Group 3 : Three dimensional shapes  Search for “Shapes” in the gallery of Alice. Show all the shapes and their names as animation. Give different colours for each shape.
Group 4: Searching for shapes: Select from the Gallery some objects or part of objects and compare the shapes with the known shapes and name them. Sample is given here.
